I think you will all agree that 2020 so far has been crazy! Lockdown has been challenging in so many different ways. As a mother, I have juggled a full-time job, teaching my child, and running my art business. Some days were definitely better than others! However, I have to admit that I quite liked phase 1 and 2 of lockdown. It felt lovely and safe to be at home. My daughter embraced online learning and received a wonderful array of online music lessons. My husband cooked wonderful meals. I found time to create a large collection of new croft house paintings.
After a few weeks of lockdown and many art sales, I started to question how I operated my business. I considered what worked well, and what didn’t. From there I made a very difficult decision to close my small gallery. This led to a huge gallery sale, which was very successful and helped me purchased furniture for an art workshop. This has allowed me to gather all of my artwork, resources, technology, paints and packaging all into one space on floor 3 of my house. Everything is now streamlined; I no longer paint at the kitchen worktop, and I have stopped running up and down my stairs (all 39 of them!) I wonder why I didn’t create a workshop years ago?
